Verbal Development
Children will enjoy sharing experiences with others. They will learn to use a larger and more meaningful vocabulary and will receive an introduction in American Sign Language.
Character and Social Development
Children will learn to share and work cooperatively with others and will learn respect for property and the rights of others.
Reading Readiness
Children will learn that printed symbols have meaning as a source of information be given, and will be given opportunities to develop an interest in reading and books. They will learn to make basic discriminations between sizes, shapes, and colors. They will also be given an introduction to alphabet recognition, sounds, and the blending of sounds. They will learn the importance of listening and following directions.
Math Concepts
Through hands on experiences, children will understand the relationship between a numeral and a set of objects. Counting will become both meaningful and fun! They will learn to recognize and name basic geometric shapes and numbers. Children will start to build a quantitive vocabulary, such as long-short and big-little.
Large Muscle Development
Opportunities will be given to the children to gain strength in muscles, body control, and positive physical and mental health through games, actions and rhyming songs, swinging, running, biking, and climbing experiences.
Small Motor Development
We offer activities such as finger plays, manipulative, cutting, art activities, and painting that develop their small muscles. Prewriting experiences are emphasized. Hand and eye coordination as well as visual discrimination skills are also enhanced daily through curriculum and free choice centers.
Art, Music, Science, Health, and Nutrition
Children will enjoy the creative process that allows for choice, exploration, and imaginative expression in a pleasant, supportive atmosphere. Children will gain a greater awareness of the world God has made. Nutritional games, art projects, and cooking opportunities will help the children gain pleasure from creating simple foods, and develop healthy eating habits.
Spiritual Development
Children will be surrounded by a Christian atmosphere of respect and love and appreciation for each person and for the wonders God is made. Children will enjoy non-denominational Bible stories and participate in a variety of learning experiences to make each story fun and memorable. Prayer is a daily part of preschool and blessings are sung before each meal.
